AMP Visual TV

The technical setup was highly creative.

Cameras are cameras, cables are cables, and mixers are sophisticated machines... Like in the kitchen, the art is in knowing how to marry the flavors. Our technicians see their business as the ability to imagine solutions that bring our customers the resources to create new programs. You said creativity?

There is nothing more thrilling for a television viewer than experiencing the sensations of a rally car driver. The process is not new, the AMP VISUAL TV Group's RF service has done it for a long time. On the other hand, there are technical constraints that make usage difficult under certain conditions. Therefore, we must constantly seek solutions to these difficulties. Thanks to an intimate knowledge of the technology, thanks to a curiosity that calls upon responses from other horizons (sailing, military surveillance, etc.), it is possible to enrich the systems to give them new flexibility and functionalities.

Assisting our customers

The AMP Visual TV Group's RF department has become an expert in this technology and is constantly innovating to offer increasingly discrete cameras with ever improved definition. But above all, the department integrates many technologies that enable increasingly relevant use of onboard images: remote control cameras (including start/stop), full duplex with the crew, GPS tracking and identification systems for relevant race monitoring, etc. In particular, all these innovations have been developed and implemented in the stages of the IRC (Intercontinental Rally Challenge) that takes us around the world for Eurosport. We have now developed them in other services too.
Sometimes, technical imagination helps secure the continuity of service through technical tricks that provide greater comfort and guarantee the reliability of the equipment. For the 2010 Dakar, our teams installed a control room in a refrigerated truck in two weeks before sending it to Argentina. An additional bonus is that this clever mobile space is dust-free.
At the 24 hours of Le Mans, we have been working for several years with the ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) to cover this global event. Each year, our teams have made it a point of honor to significantly improve the system to make the program even more exciting. In 2009, we created a complete fiber optic circuit to install RF relays around the entire course. The result, onboard images available at all times, 24 hours per day, without needing a relay plane. Savings and enhanced images.
Moreover, with AMP interactive, we are the only ones who have an internal structure able to offer coding and program enrichment solutions for the internet and mobile telephony.

Relief, another dimension

After having been a pioneer in the High Definition area, our group has made it a duty to be on the cutting edge of 3D television. For 3 years, we have been working with the "3D Live" consortium that brings together various industrial actors to jointly develop 3D program production procedures. Since that time, we have produced many rebroadcasts: performing arts, the French Open Tennis tournament (Roland Garros), the TV show "La Nouvelle Star"... With each assignment, we have been able to enrich our knowledge of the technique and above all of the new production methods necessary for 3 dimensions. This development has led us to be one of the two service providers in the world to be selected by FIFA to cover the World Cup in South Africa using this technology for the first time. True recognition of which we are very proud.

Constantly changing our point of view

In the end, innsovation is also about thinking differently. In November, the AMP VISUAL TV group was the first to imagine a new way to produce. We developed a scale for responding to new needs from producers who want solutions to shoot more quickly, with greater ease, and more economically. We developed the "Immedias" scale for this purpose. A special flight case control room, simple pre-equipped sets, "plug and play" coding solutions... we provide technological answer and, especially a new way of thinking about our craft.

Images will enable us to experience fantastic adventures in the coming years. In fact, imagination and innovation are in our DNA; we are ready!
