AMP VISUAL TV at the 2015 Tour de France

Tour de france

The 2015 Tour de France set off from Utrecht (Netherlands) on Saturday 4 July. For the 102nd Tour de France, 198 racers turned up to cycle the 3,360km between them and the finish line. For three weeks, our Extender 1 OB Truck and a number of our teams travelled the roads of France, following every stage for Eurosport International.

The 102nd Tour de France covered 3,360km, split into 21 stages. Each stage marked a stopover that dictated the daily routine of our teams for the best part of a month. This year, our Extender 1 OB Truck provided footage for LeMond On Tour, filmed live for Eurosport International. Before each stage, we filmed a first segment introducing the course, presented by Ashley House and supported by analysis from expert consultant Greg LeMond (three-time winner of the Tour de France). Filming equipment was made up of three Triax cameras and an RF camera, and our service took the form of a dual production. The first was filmed during each stage, ready for graphics to be added for the international feed. The second was for LeMond On Tour. At the end of the stage, live broadcasting resumed, with the presenters looking back at highlights of the stage, accompanied by a special guest. In parallel, a presenter with an RF camera was waiting at the line to film rider reactions. Later, Laura Meseguer provided coverage from the mixed zone, armed with a Triax camera to interview competitors. At the end of the day, our staff packed their gear away and headed off for the following day's starting line.
