The Millennium Signature 12: an eagerly awaited new addition

MS12

Announced at our Workshop in June, the new addition to AMP VISUAL TV's fleet of OB Trucks will doubtless cause a sensation when it goes live in 2016. With a larger surface area than any other mobile production unit, boasting unprecedented modularity and a swathe of innovations... it cannot fail to amaze. It's time for a little update on this adventurous project.

It is the principle upon which the company's history and reputation have been built: all of our technical facilities are always the fruit of internal development. In practice, it means that we can re-examine preconceptions, question our working habits, and remain closely in sync with the real needs of users.
And building an OB Truck is no exception.

Surface area and modularity

Proof of this can be seen in how we have circumvented the structural limitations of the number and length of extensions, in an effort to maximise space. Our teams spent a lot of time on this, observing how it was done in other fields, and making calculations to come up with new solutions. The result speaks for itself. This Millennium Signature will have two extensions running the full length of the trailer, increasing the width to 6.1m and multiplying the usable space by 2.4. At the time of writing, this ratio is without equal anywhere in the world.

It provides 76m² in which to install equipment, and will house two video studios, two audio studios, and 40 workstations. But since the project's objective is to be suitable for a maximum variety of configurations, most of the workstations are versatile and modular. Thanks to a clever system of mobile partitions, the space inside the entire OB Truck can be configured and allocated according to its function. Multiple filming, production, enhancement, graphic overlay, log generation, slow-motion, editorial, and editing modules can be configured, each placed in the right location and with a certain degree of space to make working conditions as comfortable as possible.
It should also be noted that the VIP area will cover 15m².

Technology

Of course, 4K was included in the specifications for the new unit from the outset, and the Millennium Signature 12 will join the Millennium 2 in the exclusive club of UHD units. The desired modularity can also count on IP technology to facilitate workstation allocations. As for the rest, we'll let the suspense keep building, but we can already tell you that it will be particularly innovative.
