Live from the Congo...

congo indépendance

Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 August, the AMP Visual TV Group broadcast the festivities for the fiftieth anniversary of the Independence of the Congo.

The Congo celebrated its 50th anniversary of Independence in style. A three-part show, directed by Daniel Charpentier and culminating in a superb fireworks display took place on the evening of Saturday 14 August. The show surprised and delighted the public with its extremely contemporary style. The next day, a military parade was organised in front of some twenty African Heads of State. The Congolese army invited foreign troops and various national associations to parade by its side.

A team of about thirty technicians was on the ground with the flight-case portable production unit B. They worked closely with local technicians, notably for the short period that separated the evening show and the military parade, and during which time the technical equipment had to be dismounted and re-installed in a different location in only a few hours. 10 cameras were used including one RF. The programme, produced by Gilles Amado, was broadcast on Télé Congo and the international signal. The images were also broadcast on giant screens at the event.
